Frames can be finished in Acrylic Coating, Street-Tough finish or made from stainless
steel. Stainless steel frames are in satin polished grade 316 and are suitable
for higher profile enhancement schemes. Acrylic Coated and Street-Tough finished
frames can be specified in a wide range of colours (please
see below). In response to many requests over the past few years, 45mm
thick European oak boards are now offered as an option. Because it is not economically
viable to source European oak wide enough to make the curved board sections from,

these boards are made from narrow sections of oak glued and dowelled together,
which is strong, environmentallysound and keeps costs down. European oak is prone
to movement (click
here), but suits this product because of the excellent support the
frames give to the board ends. Because of the often substantial size of an assembled
bench unit, and the need for a flat ground surface if they are to be bolted down,
(which is rarely achieved) these bench units are easiest to install if specified
with extended legs to concrete in. Curved board sections are also used in our

We have introduced curved steel benches as an addition to the timber boarded Universal Bench System. These immensely durable and attractive products are available in six standard radii, starting with the smallest at 1000mm clear internal radius. The tops are rolled from 5mm thick box section, and can be configured to form circles, part circles, horseshoe and snake shapes. Available in twelve standard colours, the benches are galvanized as standard, so are suitable for playground applications.
